What if I told you that 18 months ago I started a journey that changed my life?
Back in January 2017, I was still waiting tables and I approached my boss about the restaurant’s social media accounts. Our PR company was managing the social feeds and many of us felt like they were doing a pretty lazy job. (Which is the worst kind of bad.) I took over the management of the social feeds with the expectation that we’d eventually bring someone else in to handle things. A professional, I assumed.
As it turned out, my work started yielding real results. I used my success with that account to start bringing on other clients. Six months in and I had 4 clients. Suddenly I saw a path opening up. A future where I wouldn’t have to wait tables anymore. Not that I didn’t like working in restaurants… but after 15 years on my feet, I was tired of the long hours on my feet. The daily grind was getting to be too much for me.
So I challenged myself: What if I could be a full-time Social Media Manager?
I wasn’t trying to make a million dollars… just enough so I could get off the floor and do more of what I loved. And now, just 18 months later, this little “side hustle” has become my full-time gig. I now work with eight different clients, managing their feeds and helping to craft their narrative in the digital space.
And so what does all that mean for you?
This page isn’t about sharing cheap tips, tricks, and gimmicks. Instead, I want to teach the strategies that work so you can start building your own career. The ins and outs of the platforms are constantly evolving, but Social Media is still just in its infancy. Want to ditch your day job and do this full time? I believe it’s possible. Need a way to make some extra cash? I’m going to show you how. Or perhaps you’re running your own business and want to do a little social tune-up? This site, these posts, and my YouTube videos are for you.
Think of this as a new beginning…
I want you to shift your mindset and get organized. I know you can do this because I’ve already done it. And it wasn’t like I had an “in.” I started with the people I knew and networked the good old-fashioned way… through word-of-mouth. (Stay tuned because that’s going to be a Blog Post coming up. I’ll explain exactly how I landed my first 5 accounts… including the things I did right, and the things I did wrong.)
